6U - Belair Elementary
6U Recreational Basketball (Ages 6-7)
The YMCA’s 6U Basketball program is the first step in the progression of youth basketball, designed to introduce young players to the fundamentals of the game in a fun, supportive environment. Kids will learn key skills such as dribbling, shooting, and basic offense and defense, while building confidence and teamwork.
Through weekly practices and a season of games, players will develop an understanding of the game’s basic rules and enjoy the excitement of basketball in a recreational setting.
Teams practice once per week and participate in a set number of games each season. All teams are coached by dedicated volunteers. Parental involvement is essential to the success of the program, whether it’s through volunteering as a coach, helping on game day, or cheering from the sidelines.
