Join us for an experience that will last a lifetime.

Accomplishment
We want all children to have a sense of accomplishment, whether it’s through being away from home, learning a skill, or trying something new like rock climbing or archery.
Belonging
Our goal is to have a place that children feel safe and cared for while they are away from home. A place where they can belong. At Camp Shaver, we foster the feeling of belonging from the moment your child arrives at camp. Since 1945, our campers have been calling Camp Shaver their “home away from home”.
Character
At Camp Shaver, all of our programs are designed to develop and reinforce character, with an emphasis on the core values of responsibility, respect, caring and honesty.

Counselors in Training (Boys)
The CIT program is the next step toward being a Camp Counselor. Campers who sign up for this program can expect a camp-focused leadership program.
Campers do NOT have to have taken the LIT program before this, but it is highly recommended to have taken a some leadership training (at camp or elsewhere) in the past to get the most from our program.
The CIT program is divided into 3 weeks of programming.
1st week focuses on learning/refreshing leadership skills and teambuilding among the CITs. Things that you can expect are teambuilding, ropes course, journalling, hiking, and taking some time to enjoy being a camper.
2nd week focuses on giving the CIT’s opportunities to practice leadership skills. They will spend time in leadership roles with the younger campers designing and leading games/activities and assist the staff in making our traditional camp the amazing experience that it is.
3rd week focuses on giving back to camp through service and experiencing a bit more what the job aspect of being a camp counselor is like. This week will continue to let campers practice some of the skills they learned earlier in the program but will also have them helping out with service projects and supporting the day to day needs of running camp.
This program is still about learning and growth as camper although CITs are given more responsibility than the average camper.
Sign up today to have a great learning experience, give back to Camp Shaver, and practice your leadership skills!

Counselors in Training (Girls)
CIT is all about learning the skills needed to be a great leader at summer camp. While we will discuss leadership as a general concept the focus will be on applying these skills in the camp environment. You do not have to have taken an LIT program before to be a CIT, and you don’t have to want to work at Camp Shaver in the future to be in this program, but both will help you enjoy your time here to the fullest.
CIT campers spend much of their time practicing camp leadership skills throughout their 3 weeks. They also spend a good amount of time working on service projects and giving back to camp. However, even given these roles and responsibilities CITs are still campers and will be provided time to relax and just enjoy being at camp. Camp is all about balancing the learning with having a great time.
Sign up today to have a great learning experience, give back to Camp Shaver, and practice your leadership skills!

Leaders in Training (Boys)
Teens looking for an opportunity to develop skills for leadership positions at school, work, in their community or in a camp environment will find our leadership development program extremely valuable. The Leaders in Training (LIT) program focuses on individual leadership development, teambuilding and self-discovery. Their active schedule includes time for both learning and practical application, as well as forming tight-knit friendships with a healthy dose of fun!
During each 2 week session LITs spend 1 week focusing on learning the leadership skills we focus on and participate in our more challenging ropes course elements as part of teambuilding experience. In the second week they are able to put those skills to practical use doing things like community service projects, and planning then presenting one or more of camp’s group activities or lessons.
